5 Things Science Cannot Demonstrate

pettifoggery:

According to philosopher William Lane Craig.

1. Logical truths.
2. Metaphysical truths (e.g. the existence of other minds, the external world, that the universe was not created five minutes ago with the appearance of age, multiverse theory).
3. Ethical judgments.
4. Aesthetic judgments.
5. Science itself (e.g. the universal constancy of the speed of light).

Why Atheistic Evolution is Self-Defeating

“It would be impossible to accept naturalism itself if we really and consistently believed naturalism. For naturalism is a system of thought. …if naturalism were true then all thoughts whatever would be wholly the result of irrational causes. Therefore, all thoughts would be equally worthless. Therefore, naturalism is worthless. If it is true, then we can know no truths. It cuts its own throat.

I remember once being shown a certain kind of knot which was such that if you added one extra complication to make assurance double sure you suddenly found that the whole thing had come undone in your hands and you had only a bit of string. It is like that with naturalism. It goes on claiming territory after territory: first the inorganic, then the lower organisms, then man’s body, then his emotions. But when it takes the final step and we attempt a naturalistic account of thought itself, suddenly the whole thing unravels.”

— C.S. Lewis

On the one hand, atheists claim to be willing to follow the evidence wherever it leads. On the other, there are certain places they refuse to let the evidence take them. This is a contradiction. A mind which is open to everything cannot be closed to anything, and that includes God.

Darwin’s Problem with Reason

Even Darwin once admitted that,

“[With] me the horrid doubt always arises whether the convictions of man’s mind, which has been developed from the mind of lower animals, are of any value or at all trustworthy. Would anyone trust in the convictions of a monkey’s mind, if there are any convictions in such a mind?”

— Darwin, Letter to William Graham

About

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.
— 1 Peter 3:15 (NKJV)
